I'm so excited to share today's podcast episode with Taran and Bunny Ghatrora, the co-founders of an incredible company called Blume. I discovered Blume through a mutual friend and fell in love with their concept and how they are changing the game when it comes to period products and self-care. Self-care goes beyond face masks and baths (though I do love me a bath...and face mask!). Self-care is also about accessibility to products for something that 50% of the population experiences...periods.

From acne care, to menstrual cramp solutions and organic period products, Blume is here to solve these problems, and give back along the way. I'm so excited to be sharing this incredible company and their founders here on the show today.

On today's episode we also discuss:

  • How Blume got started
  • Accessibility to period products and Blume's partnership with Days for Girls
  • Puberty and the education for young girls on changes in their bodies
  • Societal stigma around periods and how to remove it
  • What's in our period products + the Pink Tax
  • Sex education and self-care - do they go together?
  • PCOS and educating young women on it
  • ...and so much more!

You and I may never become Soulcycle instructors but something about Jera Foster-Fell's story will ring true with all of us: What happens when you accomplish your dream and then realize it isn't your dream anymore? From Soulcycle instructor to body positive influencer, Jera's story has taken many turns and she's chronicled it all over on her account Jera.Bean.

On today's show I'm chatting with Jera all about this journey and where she's landed now. We talk about life as an influencer, what a day in her life looks like now and being okay with change even as we confront our own identity.

On today's episode we also discuss:

  • How Jera fell in love with fitness
  • Soulcycle and her journey to becoming an instructor (hint: it wasn't easy!)
  • Deciding she was done with teaching and how to take the leap into another direction
  • Watching her body change and sharing this journey publicly
  • What her job actually looks like and the pressures of social media
  • Where she gets her positivity and confidence from
  • ...and so much more!

This episode feels incredibly full circle for me. I remember following Gina Harney's blog all the way back in 2009 while a junior in college. In some ways this feels like the hay day of blogging. I would wake up, grab my coffee and check-in with my healthy living blogs each morning on my google blog reader. The Fitnessista was at the top of this list. 10 years later, Gina is on That's So Maven to chat all about her blogging journey and how the landscape has changed since she first started.

Gina Harney is a personal trainer and group fitness professional. She runs online programs and blogs about her journey over on The Fitnessista. She's also a Mama to two awesome daughters and a wife to who many of us know as "The Pilot". The thing that I love most about Gina is her transparency. She has taught me so much simply by sharing her experiences. From getting her breast implants removed to sharing her postpartum recovery journey, it truly is an honor to have Gina share the mic with me today.

On today's episode we also discuss:

  • Gina's journey and why she started The Fitnessista
  • How the landscape of blogging has changed as well as her perspective on health and wellness
  • The future of blogging and how social media changed the game
  • Diastasis Recti and her best tips for postpartum fitness and recovery
  • Why she got breast implants and eventually why she got them removed
  • Breast plant illness and how to know if you are being affected by it
  • ...and so much more!

If I had a nickel for every fearful thought I experienced in a day I would RICH. In fact I'd probably be a billionaire. Fear...it's what our mind feeds on - or so we think. Though far more difficult, our minds can feed off love, but this means facing our fear and moving forward anyway. Today on the show I'm chatting with Koya Webb, a holistic health coach and yoga instructor all about facing your fears and how to turn obstacles into seeds of growth.

Koya is an internationally recognized yoga teacher, personal trainer, holistic health and wellness coach, author, motivational speaker, and professional fitness model revolutionizing the holistic living landscape. She is known as a “transformational specialist” when it comes to helping people reach their goals—by encouraging sustainable positive lifestyle changes. She believes the most important element in health is Self-Love; from this belief came the creation of Get Loved Up. Get Loved Up encourages clients to practice daily self-care and make healthy living a priority in a fun and accessible way. Get Loved Up aims to lower the number of people with chronic diseases associated with an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle.

On today's episode we chat about:

  • Koya's journey and what led her to teach yoga
  • Radical self love and starting "Get Loved Up"
  • Increasing diversity in the yoga space and starting her own teacher program
  • Identifying fear and when the stories you tell yourself aren't true
  • How to find the courage to tackle your fears even when they paralyze you
  • What teaching yoga has taught her about life
  • ...and so much more!

I had been looking forward to chatting with Minna Lee aka Living Minnaly for several weeks after she scheduled her interview. I've always resonated with her message and have loved following along with her journey though it wasn't until we sat down and chatted that I learned how much we had in common. From growing up figure skating to struggling with an eating disorder and eventually to starting our blogs, meeting Minna was like meeting a long lost sister.

To date, this felt like one of the most genuine conversations I've had here on the show. From fitness coach, to blogger, to photographer to downright awesome human, it's safe to say that Minna wears many hats so it was fun to have her on the show to share more about her journey and how she defines wellness.

On today's episode we chat about:

  • Minna's journey and her past as a competitive athlete
  • How she transitioned to fitness coaching and how that's changed her perception of exercise
  • Getting diagnosed with Hashimoto's and the changes she's made to support her body
  • Body image and how she's learning to embrace what she has
  • Mental health and social media - can the two coexist?
  • Being a "Jill of all Trades" and why she likes having a lot of projects
  • Balance - does it really exist?
  • ...and so much more!
